An engineer by education (B.E. Instrumentation) and Writer, Director, Editor, Producer & Film Maker by profession, Ashmith has more than a 20 years of experience across a broad spectrum of sectors. Ashmith has edited films in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, English & Malaysian!
Notable among his work as an Editor from 20 odd films, are highly acclaimed features like: Shor in the City (2011), Lamhaa (2010) and Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women (2003), a French production which has won the Best Film award at the prestigious Venice Film Festival, and Kamal Hassan’s VFX heavy magnum opus Dasaavataram (2008). He has directed ad films for brands like Dove, Mc Donalds, Fisher-Price, Barbie, Ponds, Piramal Healthcare, Nestle etc. He has also directed a few commercials, which are exclusively for the international market. Ashmith is also a Screenwriter and has written Tees Maar Khan, directed by Farah Khan; Kutti Chetan & Friends (based on Chhota Chetan), along with Hollywood writer Mark Zaslove. He is the Producer of the Hindi feature film, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Ashmith Kunder has been a jury member of the Indian Television Awards & the prestigious IDPA (Indian Documentary Producers Association) awards. He has been the official representative of the Cairo International film festival (CIFF) in India. Ashmith Kunder was invited to be a speaker at Pune international literary festival (PILF) in 2015 and 2018.
